Customer Privacy Policy

When you use PublicData.com, you're trusting us with your information. We understand this is a big responsibility and work hard to protect your information.

When subscribing, we collect your account information such as name, address, phone, email, etc. We also collect credit card credentials and generate a password for you (which can be changed at anytime). While using PublicData.com, we record information for each account activity, login, search and detail lookup.

All collected information is stored in databases on non-public facing machines and are protected behind various firewalls. Additionally, sensitive information such as passwords and credit card numbers are encrypted whereas your credit card security code is never stored.

PublicData's use of this information is limited to customer validation, fraud prevention activities, and communications with you regarding your PublicData.com account. We will only use collected information to serve you as described in the PublicData.com Access Agreement Terms & Conditions and it will not be used or shared for any other purpose. From time-to-time, we are subjected to usage audits by public records providers or law enforcement investigators. We respond by providing requested usage information but mask the identity of the customer from the auditors. Please be aware that we will insist on keeping your identity private until presented with a properly executed warrant or subpoena. In the event of civil subpoenas, we have always intervened with the court for the cause of customer privacy and non-disclosure.

PublicData.com reserves the right to update its Privacy Policy in the future.

Refund Policy

If your creditcard was used fraudulently with PublicData.com, please contact our Customer Service department when you first see the fraudulent charge and we will be happy to refund that charge immediately.

If you are a PublicData.com subscriber, you can cancel your account at anytime.

When you request PublicData to 'Cancel Your Account', what actually happens is that we cancel the recurrent invoicing and billing that occurs either monthly or annually on behalf of the account. After cancelling, you may continue to login and use PublicData.com until either the current invoiced period expires or until all of the purchased and bonus 'lookups' are used (which ever of these occurs first). Once the current invoiced period has expired, the account is deactivated and no additional invoices will be generated until you reactivate the account.

Refunds are not given for unused days within an invoiced period, refunds are not given for non-usage, and refunds are not given for unused searches for the invoiced period.

All PublicData accounts are considered to be recurrently invoiced, billed and charged until the customer requests PublicData to stop through the Cancellation Process. Cancellation of the recurrent invoicing, billing, and charging processes must be requested directly by the customer to PublicData and cannot be implied by non-use, refusal to pay, contact with your creditcard issuer, or any such non-direct method.

Please note that canceling your PublicData.com account will result in the loss of any accrued 'Bonus lookups'.

Position on Public Records

In that taxpayers enable government to collect information, all citizens should have access to all records and information generated by all levels of government except for:

  1. Information related to the security of the State and
  2. Information related to ongoing criminal investigations.

Position On Database Inaccuracies

PublicData is a public records disseminator and is not responsible for any inaccuracies in any database. PublicData will not modify records in any database upon notification of inaccuracies from individuals. Those wishing to have inaccurate data corrected must contact the reporting/supplying government agency and negotiate changes. Once changes are in place with the government agency, PublicData will reflect the modification(s) in the regular update cycle of that database.
